Windows 7 RC in Dell Inspiron 8200

30 July 2009 at 1:09 pm » Comments (8)

My first notebook was a Dell Inspiron 8200 and it’s already 5 years old. It suffered through the IT storm for so many years and up till today, it is still alive and kicking (except the battery; it died officially last year).
The most significant change was the Operating System (OS) as I’ve been using it [...]

Here comes the next Vocaloid 2 singer (third), Megurine Luka which is expected to be released end of this month. The new virtual singer has a bilingual vocal database, Japanese and English apparently.

Don’t worry Hatsune chan, I’m still a fan of yours.

Google Chrome

Google has launched its own web browser called Chrome. Very simplistic and tidy design and it’s freaking fast! Yep, I’m using it right now to write this post.
On the downside, there’ll be more work for me. As a web/ multimedia developer, platform testing has just increased by one extra web browser. Grrr.

Cyber Figure Alice

Dear otakus and otakus-to-be, introducing Dennoh Figure ARis.
Meet Alice, a little virtual maid living in an Augmented Reality (AR) world. The interactivity is done by utilising an empty cube and a cube stick. With the help of a web camera, your interactions are projected via your monitor (the bigger the monitor the better ‘experience’ you get).
With this cool gadget, the otaku [...]

RocketDock

Who says Windows can’t have what they got in Macs? Firstly it was iTunes that invaded into Windows. Then the buggy Safari. And now it’s the bubbly effect Dock (signature feature in Macs) offered by RocketDock. Unfortunately it’s only meant for Windows Vista.

(I don’t need a Mac for this!)

WordPress 2.5.1

Finally upgraded my blog to WordPress 2.5.1. Some hiccups along the way but I managed to keep it away from falling apart. Also noticed some page loading improvements and better user interface in the control panel. ;D
With the newer version, I can install better plugins offered from the WordPress community.

Vocaloid 2

(One of the first “virtual singer”, Hatsune Miku)
I was a little slow to pick up this neat application. Vocaloid is a human voice synthesizer developed by Yamaha some years ago that will change the need of human vocals in music composition. With an “authentic human voice” Virtual Singer, all you need to do is to provide [...]

Vector Magic

11 February 2008 at 3:50 pm » Comments (0)

A wonderful tool called Vector Magic which converts your bitmap image into a vector based image. It’ll be very useful when you’re developing applications/multimedia in Flash where stretching an image is possible without heavy pixalisation. The details of some areas are much left to be desired, but overall they look good.

Left: Original bitmap image
Right: Vectorised image

Moving to Macbook

6 February 2008 at 1:03 pm » Comments (1)

I have been keeping in touch with Windows/DOS era since 1992 and not once I thought of straying away from it. But time and curiosity teams up as a deadly combo and slowly they crept onto me, I was thrown into Linux world briefly and by the late 2007, I’ve decided to hook up with a Mac. Reason? Hungry for more? No. I [...]
